Hey, I’m Dhara!
Dhara Bakshi is an esteemed Indian classical vocalist, educator, and certified sound healing practitioner. She has been teaching Hindustani classical vocal music since 1995 and holds a master's degree in Performing Arts (Music Vocal) from M.S. University, Baroda. Her deep understanding of Hindustani classical music theory and practical application has been recognized with the prestigious Acharya Allauddin Music Circle Gold Medal. She has served as a Lecturer and Head of the Music Department at J.G. College of Performing Arts, Ahmedabad, India.
In addition to her classical music credentials, Dhara is a certified sound healing practitioner, having completed her training at the internationally recognized Globe Sound Healing Institute. She integrates the ancient wisdom of Indian ragas with modern sound healing techniques, utilizing the vibrational power of swaras (musical notes) to promote healing and well-being. Her approach draws upon the rich traditions of Nāda Yoga, the spiritual and therapeutic application of sound, and explores the intersections between classical raga singing, harmonic resonance, and meditative sound therapy.
Dhara’s innovative approach seamlessly merges her extensive expertise in Hindustani classical music with her deep knowledge of sound healing, creating a unique synthesis that bridges tradition and modern therapeutic applications. By blending the emotive and melodic depth of Indian ragas with scientifically backed sound healing methodologies, she has developed a distinctive practice that not only preserves the classical heritage but also expands its reach into the realm of holistic wellness. Her work pioneers the use of raga-based frequencies for emotional and physical healing, demonstrating how the precision of swara intonation, and the meditative aspects of alap, can enhance relaxation, balance energy centers, and facilitate deep inner transformation.
Through workshops, performances, and therapeutic sessions, Dhara continues to push the boundaries of both classical music and sound healing, making these ancient art forms more accessible and relevant to contemporary audiences seeking spiritual and sonic well-being. Her teaching and healing practice seamlessly blend her deep-rooted classical training with an intuitive understanding of sound as a tool for transformation, making her a sought-after mentor for students, performers, and wellness practitioners alike.
